Job summary

The Keystone Distinction Group in the Tampa Bay area seeks a Project Engineer for heavy civil highway and bridge work in St. Petersburg, FL. This role combines office and field duties, focusing on engineering controls, schedules, and cost tracking.

You will support the PM/PS, manage schedules in Primavera P6, track quantities and costs, and coordinate subs and vendors while ensuring regulatory and project document control. A 5–8 year background in civil construction is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of civil construction experience in office and field.
• Experience managing multiple activities on heavy civil work.
• B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management emphasis preferred.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, Excel and Word.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• FDOT project experience a plus.
• Based in the Tampa Bay area or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Review the contract and specifications in their entirety.
• Support the Project Manager and Project Superintendent on day-to-day project needs.
• Prepare and update the project schedule in Primavera P6.
• Track quantities, project costs and forecasting.
• Get pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including change orders.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and crews to resolve field conflicts.
• Support monthly billing, cash flow projections and change order processing.
• Run document control for submittals, contract documents and record drawings.
• Review HeavyJob daily reports for accuracy.
• Keep NPDES permits, the SWPPP, inspections, survey staking and joint measurements with the owner on track.

A heavy civil highway and bridge contractor with work across Florida is hiring a Project Engineer out of its St. Petersburg office in the Tampa Bay area. This is a strong opportunity for a Project Engineer or experienced Field Engineer with 5 to 8 years in civil construction who has managed multiple activities at once and wants a real path with a stable, well backed employer. You'll own the engineering and project controls side of heavy civil highway work, much of it FDOT work. Tampa Bay locals are great, and candidates ready to relocate are welcome.
