Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to manage project scope, estimates, scheduling, design, and construction oversight for pipeline, terminals, and marine projects. The role emphasizes safety, environment, and regulatory compliance with a path to higher responsibility based on experience.

Preferred locations include Findlay, OH or Indianapolis, IN with up to 25–35% travel and a hybrid work schedule. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
• Valid driver’s license; travel to field locations will be required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• 3+ years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with affected departments during project development to vet resource estimates, schedules, and safety impacts.
• Facilitates detailed design reviews to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
• Prepares bid requests for materials, labor, and equipment; evaluates proposals.
• Supports multiple projects from conception to commissioning and start-up.
• Acts as a safety leader; leads project safety meetings and supports safety procedures.
• Troubleshoots operational issues and optimizes processes using engineering practices.
• Participates in project safety reviews such as HAZOPs, PHAs, and PSSRs.
• Tracks budgets, work orders, purchase orders, and scheduling to anticipate issues.
