Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • Valid driver’s license; travel to field locations will be required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 3+ years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with affected departments during project development to vet resource estimates, schedules, and safety impacts.
  • Facilitates detailed design reviews to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
  • Prepares bid requests for materials, labor, and equipment; evaluates proposals.
  • Supports multiple projects from conception to commissioning and start-up.
  • Acts as a safety leader; leads project safety meetings and supports safety procedures.
  • Troubleshoots operational issues and optimizes processes using engineering practices.
  • Participates in project safety reviews such as HAZOPs, PHAs, and PSSRs.
  • Tracks budgets, work orders, purchase orders, and scheduling to anticipate issues.

POSITION SUMMARY

Logistics & Storage Engineering (L&SE) is an engineering service and project management organization comprised of engineering and other resources that primarily manage project work associated with pipeline, terminals, and marine organizations within MPLX. L&SE is seeking an experienced Project Engineer. The project engineer manages and is responsible for all aspects of assigned projects including project scope, estimate, schedule, engineering design, equipment and material selection, project bidding, contractor selection, construction oversight, management of change, safety and environmental oversight, and any other project tasks necessary to complete a successful project. The preferred location for this position is Findlay, OH or Indianapolis, IN. Other L&SE locations may be considered. MPC prides itself on having the highest level of safety and quality in the industry, and we expect our project engineers to hold themselves to that high standard as well. This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborates with affected departments during project development to vet resource estimates, schedules, business benefits, environmental/health/safety impacts.
  • Facilitates project detailed design and technical reviews to ensure design meets corporate engineering standards.
  • Prepares bid requests for material, labor, and equipment and evaluate proposals on sound engineering and business principles.
  • Supports multiple projects simultaneously of varying magnitude and complexity from conception to commissioning and start-up.
  • Acts as a safety leader who upholds company core values and prioritizes personal and process safety. Prepares and leads engaging project safety meetings, drives safely, utilizes the MOC process, and supports the development and implementation of business partner energy isolation procedures. Supports department and company HES goals.
  • Troubleshoots operational issues and optimizes processes utilizing sound engineering practices.
  • Participates in project safety reviews including HAZOPs, PHAs, PSSRs, etc.
  • Tracks project budgets, work orders, and purchase orders, and schedules and maintain a firm understanding of potential issues before they arise.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Required Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a four‑year accredited college or university. Civil, Mechanical, or similar are preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required; travel to field locations or fabrication sites will be required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of individuals and employees.
  • 3+ years of industry experience required.
LOCATION & TRAVEL REQUIRED

Preferred location is Findlay, OH or Indianapolis, IN. Other L&SE locations may be considered. Travel up to 25–35% of the time is expected, including some overnight travel. We offer a hybrid work schedule.
