Job summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced Project Engineer (Electrical) to join the PMR team supporting EDF Nuclear Generation and its UK fleet. Based mainly at Sizewell B, you will work with client project managers and construction managers to safely deliver projects in a highly regulated environment.

Role offers mentoring, training, and potential progression; hybrid working options and occasional travel to other UK sites may be required.

Job description

Amentum is looking for an experienced Project Engineer (Electrical) to join our Project Management Resource (PMR) team, supporting EDF Nuclear Generation and its UK nuclear fleet. Based predominantly at Sizewell B Power Station, you'll join a large, client-led team delivering projects within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment. You'll work closely with the client's Project/Programme Manager and Construction Manager, playing an important role in the safe and successful delivery of your assigned projects. This is an opportunity to build on your existing project engineering experience while working alongside experienced professionals who will support and mentor your development. You'll have access to training and opportunities to strengthen your technical, project engineering and leadership capabilities, with the potential to progress towards larger and increasingly complex projects. While the role will primarily be site-based at Sizewell B, some flexibility between site, office and home working may be possible depending on project and business requirements. Occasional travel to other UK sites and stations may also be required. What You'll Be Doing As a Project Engineer, you'll take responsibility for the successful delivery of assigned projects, working with the client and a cross-functional project team to achieve agreed safety, quality, schedule and performance objectives. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the development and implementation of project execution strategies in collaboration with the client Project/Programme Manager.
• Coordinating cross-functional project teams to deliver work safely and effectively, in accordance with company policies, procedures and agreed project baselines.
• Taking accountability for the delivery of assigned project activities and ensuring established goals and objectives are achieved.
• Building strong working relationships with client teams, project stakeholders and colleagues across the wider organisation.
• Communicating effectively across technical and non-technical teams, maintaining clear and productive stakeholder networks.
• Applying a strong safety mindset and working in accordance with the standards and expectations of a highly regulated nuclear environment.
• Bringing a collaborative, organised and results-focused approach to project delivery.

You'll report to the Amentum Operations Manager from a business perspective, while being accountable directly to the client for project delivery. We're looking for an experienced engineering professional with a strong understanding of project delivery in complex, highly regulated environments. You'll be comfortable working across disciplines, engaging with a range of stakeholders and taking a practical, solutions-focused approach to delivering projects safely and successfully.

• A degree in Electrical engineering or a related discipline, with Chartered status or progress towards Chartership desirable.
• Electrical experience, Controls and Instrumentation or high voltage
• An SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) qualification, or equivalent.
• Experience applying modern project management techniques within complex, multi-functional organisations.
• A strong understanding of the project lifecycle, including engineering, design, procurement, safety case, construction, installation and commissioning.
• Demonstrable experience supporting projects through the full lifecycle, including design reviews, supplier engagement and management, and working as an integrated member of a multidisciplinary project team.
• A good understanding of quality assurance and quality control, together with awareness of the commercial, contractual and financial factors that influence successful project delivery.
• Experience of estimating, cost control, planning and commercial management, including contributing to business cases and sanction or funding submissions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret information, identify issues and support effective decision-making.
• Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, along with relevant estimating, scheduling, programming, risk and Earned Value Management tools.
• Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams.

Experience working at power stations or Nuclear Licensed Sites would be advantageous, but it isn't essential.
