Job summary

Overview

Amentum is seeking a high performing Project Engineering Manager II to lead the technical execution of High Hazard / High Consequence projects. The role focuses on engineering activities for complex mid-to-large scale projects, working closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Supervising Discipline Engineers, and Managing Discipline Engineers to ensure superior engineering performance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead one or more Project Engineers and/or Supervising Discipline Engineers assigned to the project.
  • Act as the project’s technical manager, establishing a reporting structure that promotes open communication and timely identification of challenges or issues.
  • Exhibit exceptional control of scope, cost and schedule, with strong technical knowledge across diverse engineering disciplines.
  • Orchestrate the design of a technically sound, safe and operable facility, ensuring adherence to industry codes, regulatory requirements and sound engineering practices.
  • Develop and implement the project’s technical work plan in accordance with the Statement of Work (SOW), technical and functional requirements.
  • Lead multi‑discipline technical coordination meetings, including interfaces with the customer.
  • Facilitate the setup and deployment of engineering software and tools.
  • Lead planning and scheduling of engineering tasks; coordinate Project Engineers / Control Account Managers (CAMS) and Supervising Discipline Engineers in development of schedule and budget.
  • Review Change Notices and assist the Project Manager in change order management; lead the technical change control process.
  • Serve as direct line Manager for RFIs and supplier submittal review packages.
  • Coordinate and deliver Inter‑Discipline and Client Design Reviews, managing engineering comments, approvals and requests.
  • Prepare and submit reports and forecasts on engineering and subcontractor services.
  • Ensure quality, quantity and completeness of all assigned engineering tasks; develop and issue Engineering Execution Plans.
  • Review engineering performance to ensure quality, conformance and completeness.
  • Keep Project Manager and team advised of progress, performance and manpower utilization, paying attention to delays, adverse trends, errors and omissions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate engineering discipline from a four‑year ABET‑accredited university.
  • 12+ years total engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Professional Engineering License(s) in Good Standing, with ability to obtain licensure in various states.
  • U.S. Citizenship; ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Key Selection Criteria
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word‑processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Leadership experience leading multi‑discipline teams in an AE setting across various disciplines (Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Chemical/Process, Electrical, Controls, Specialty Design) throughout the EPCm lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical scope control, cost and schedule management, labor‑hour estimate development, and security clearance.
Preferred / Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of quality requirements such as NQA‑1.
  • Experience in Process and Utility design, 3D Modeling / Plant Design Capabilities.
  • DOE projects or DOE Laboratory Experience.
  • Commercial Nuclear Experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Hiring Salary Range: $175,000 – $185,000 annually.
