Job summary

DPR Construction is seeking a Construction Project Engineer to support Self-Perform Work (SPW) on our Durham, NC projects. You will collaborate with SPW crews, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure SPW scopes, schedules, and quality meet project standards.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2–4 years of construction engineering experience, with OSHA 30 certification preferred and completion within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2–4 years of experience in construction engineering, project engineering, or a related field.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred, with completion within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists in reviewing contract drawings, specifications, and submittals for SPW scopes, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with project and crew requirements.
• Collaborates with SPW project managers, superintendents, and project teams to resolve standard technical questions related to self-perform scopes of work.
• Monitors SPW activity schedules and budgets, tracks labor productivity, and reports variances to support timely corrective actions.
• Supports the implementation of standard SPW-specific quality assurance and safety protocols throughout all phases of self-perform work.
• Prepares and maintains detailed SPW project documentation, including daily SPW crew reports, time and material logs, equipment usage records, and field change documentation.
• Identifies opportunities for incremental improvements in SPW processes and contributes to the development of leading practices.
• Actively participates in SPW coordination meetings and communicates field progress, production rates, and any issues to SPW crews, project managers, and other stakeholders.
