Project Engineer (Composites)

Job Description

Thermal Structures, a subsidiary of HEICO, is an industry-leading provider of insulation and composite products, committed to exceeding customer expectations. We design and manufacture solutions for complex applications, ensuring quality and value from concept to completion.

Responsibilities and Authority

1. Perform feasibility studies on potential structural composites manufacturing projects and conduct full-cost breakdown studies for projects passing feasibility review.
2. Supervise new project development through the manufacturing process and lead qualification and approval efforts internally and with customers.
3. Lead material recertification efforts for expired materials, negotiating test requirements with customers and supervising test sample construction.
4. Provide clear work instructions via manufacturing travelers and process planning for new and existing projects.
5. Represent Engineering during internal Preliminary Review Board meetings for hardware disposition.
6. Participate in customer and third-party audits of the facility, including certification or calibration of key equipment.
7. Serve as the first point of contact for customers regarding technical issues related to product, process, and qualification.
8. Travel may be required, but not more than 10% depending on project needs.

Requirements

1. 4-year Engineering Degree, preferably in mechanical, aerospace, or materials disciplines.
2. At least 2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally aerospace.
3. Knowledge of typical aerospace composite materials and processing methods.
4. Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and some experience with CAD software.
5. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with customer interaction experience.
6. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently.
7. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus, but not required.
