Job summary

AlphaGov is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support commercial electrical construction from planning through completion. You will coordinate project documentation, materials, schedules, costs, and field activities alongside project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and suppliers in the Detroit area.

Responsibilities include preparing RFIs, submittals, change orders, transmittals, procurement logs, and reviews of electrical drawings and specs.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in commercial construction or project engineering.
• Experience with a commercial electrical contractor is preferred.
• Basic understanding of commercial electrical systems and field operations.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and project documentation.
• Proficiency in MS Office and construction management tools (Procore/Bluebeam).

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with planning and overseeing electrical construction projects.
• Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and procurement logs.
• Review drawings, specs, contracts, and schedules to understand scope.
• Coordinate activities between field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and teams.
• Track material orders and procurement schedules to ensure timely delivery.
• Support scheduling, budgeting, cost tracking, and reporting.
• Participate in project meetings and site visits to review progress.
• Support constructability reviews with estimating and BIM/VDC teams.
• Maintain organized project files and correspondence.
• Assist with takeoffs, purchasing, commissioning, and closeout.
• Identify delays or budget concerns and report to leadership.
• Ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and safety standards.
