Job summary

SST Direct is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for an EPC firm that self‑performs significant solar construction. This role requires 100% travel across the Southeast and extending to West Texas; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

The position involves planning, cost estimation, scheduling, and contractor coordination to ensure on‑time, on‑budget project delivery. Salary starts at $75,000 with a 10% annual bonus, per‑diem, a company truck and fuel card, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Spanish-speaking a plus.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite and scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project).

Responsibilities

• Organize and control project elements to complete engineering projects.
• Develop project objectives by reviewing proposals and conferring with management.
• Assign personnel to phases and review contractor bids.
• Study product design, customer requirements, and performance standards to determine specs.
• Prepare cost estimates and conduct tests to verify product performance.
• Study project plans to determine schedules and time requirements.
• Monitor progress and coordinate activities to maintain the schedule.
• Review design and plan changes and manage project costs and expenditures.
• Maintain project data and backup information.

DIRECT HIRE: We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firm that self‑performs a significant portion of the construction for utility‑scale solar projects. This position requires 100% travel, primarily throughout the Southeast and extending as far as West Texas. Recent college grads are encouraged to apply.

• Salary starts at $75,000, please let us know what you desire, since salary is negotiable depending on experience
• Annual bonus of 10%, possible 10% kicker on top of the first 10%

Responsibilities for Project Engineer:

• Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements.
• Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management.
• Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel to phases and elements, and reviewing bids from contractors.
• Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
• Completes technical studies and prepares cost estimates.
• Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.
• Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
• Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
• Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan, scheduling changes, and recommending actions.
• Controls project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
• Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
• Maintains project data base by writing computer programs; entering and backing up data.

Requirements for Project Engineer

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other related discipline required
• Spanish-speaking a plus
• Proficient with MS Office Suite of tools, exposure to schedule software, Primavera (P6) or Microsoft Project
