Job summary

SST Direct seeks an experienced Assistant Project Manager for an EPC firm that self-performs a large portion of utility-scale solar construction. The role requires 100% travel across the Southeast and West Texas, with recent grads encouraged to apply.

Salary starts at $80,000 and is negotiable by experience; annual bonus of 10% with a possible 10% kicker on top of the first 10%, plus per-diem and company benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k match, PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience required.
• 2–4 years as an Assistant Project Manager on large-scale utility solar projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel to multiple solar projects nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Oversee overall project management for large-scale utility solar projects.
• Track budget delivery, scheduling, change orders, and purchase orders.
• Report regularly and coordinate with Owner and client requirements.
• Maintain relationships between customers and subcontractors.
• Monitor construction activities and prepare reports (daily/weekly/monthly).
• Administer QA/QC program as work progresses.
• Assist PM and O&M to close out projects.
• Assist PM and schedulers to update project schedule.
• Assist PM in contracting and managing subcontractors and vendors.
• Coordinate with engineering and field team to troubleshoot issues.
• Assist in cost forecasting for projects.
• Conduct pre-construction meetings and coordinate permits and subcontractors.
• Assist engineers with RFIs and submittals.
• Manage subcontractors onsite to stay on schedule and budget.

Assistant Project Manager Responsibilities

• Responsible for overall project management and oversight of large-scale utility solar projects.
• Assist in tracking budget delivery, scheduling, change orders, and purchase orders.
• Interacts regularly with Owner, complies with client’s needs and submits regular reporting, as required.
• Maintain relationships between the customers and subcontractors.
• Monitors construction activities, productivities, and create daily/weekly/monthly reports.
• Administer QA/QC program as work progresses.
• Assist project manager and O&M team to effectively close out projects.
• Assists Project Manager and company schedulers to manage and update project schedule.
• Assists Project Manager to contract and manage Subcontractors and vendors for the site.
• Coordinate with engineering and field team to troubleshoot field challenges.
• Assists in cost forecasting for projects.
• Conducts trade pre-construction meetings, coordinates subcontractors and vendors, coordinates permit inspections, and maintains any subcontractor relationships.
• Assists project engineers with RFIs & Submittals.
• Manages Subcontractors onsite to ensure that project is on schedule and within budget.

Assistant Project Manager Requirements

• Qualified candidates must have an associate degree or equivalent experience, 2-4 years’ experience as an Assistant Project Manager on large-scale utility solar projects or field experience working on site on Large Scale Utility Solar projects
• Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office programs
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to travel to different solar projects throughout the United States.
