Job summary

SST Direct is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join an EPC firm that self-performs a significant portion of construction for utility-scale solar projects. The position requires 100% travel across the Southeast and West Texas; recent grads are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include organizing project elements, developing objectives, managing bids, and controlling schedules and costs. A civil-engineering degree is required, with Spanish a plus and strong MS Office/ scheduling

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Spanish-speaking a plus.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite; exposure to schedule software like Primavera (P6) or Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

• Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements.
• Develops project objectives by reviewing proposals and plans and conferring with management.
• Assigns personnel to phases and elements and reviews contractor bids.
• Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
• Completes technical studies and prepares cost estimates.
• Designs and conducts tests to confirm product performance.
• Determines project schedule by studying plans, estimating time, and sequencing elements.
• Maintains schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
• Controls plan by reviewing design, scheduling changes, and recommending actions.
• Approves expenditures and manages contractor contracts to control costs.
• Prepares project status reports and analyzes trends.
• Maintains project data by writing programs and backing up data.

DIRECT HIRE: We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firm that self‑performs a significant portion of the construction for utility‑scale solar projects. This position requires 100% travel, primarily throughout the Southeast and extending as far as West Texas. Recent college grads are encouraged to apply.

• Salary starts at $75,000, please let us know what you desire, since salary is negotiable depending on experience
• Annual bonus of 10%, possible 10% kicker on top of the first 10%

Responsibilities for Project Engineer:

• Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements.
• Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management.
• Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel to phases and elements, and reviewing bids from contractors.
• Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
• Completes technical studies and prepares cost estimates.
• Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.
• Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
• Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
• Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan, scheduling changes, and recommending actions.
• Controls project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
• Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
• Maintains project data base by writing computer programs; entering and backing up data.

Requirements for Project Engineer

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other related discipline required
• Spanish-speaking a plus
• Proficient with MS Office Suite of tools, exposure to schedule software, Primavera (P6) or Microsoft Project
