Job summary

Diamond Peak Recruiting is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our growing commercial TI team in Phoenix, AZ. You will support the delivery of tenant improvement projects from preconstruction through closeout, coordinating with clients, designers, and subcontractors to keep work on schedule and within budget.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years in commercial construction, strong organization and communication skills, and a drive to grow into a Project Manager role in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CM, CE, Arch, or related field (or equivalent construction experience).
  • 1–3 years of experience in commercial construction, preferably TI projects.
  • Working knowledge of construction documents, contracts, and project administration.
  • Experience with MS Office, MS Project, Bluebeam, Procore or similar software.
  • Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers in planning, execution, and completion of commercial TI projects.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and clients through the project lifecycle.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and document control.
  • Assist with project scheduling and monitor progress against milestones.
  • Track budgets, change orders, purchase orders, and cost reports.
  • Attend meetings and prepare minutes and action items.
  • Perform site visits to monitor construction progress, quality, and safety.
  • Assist with closeout, including punch lists, as-builts, warranties, and turnover packages.
  • Ensure compliance with specs, building codes, and company standards.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, design teams, and subcontractors.

Salary Range: 80-95K base

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join their growing construction team in Phoenix, AZ. This position supports the successful delivery of commercial tenant improvement (TI) projects from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and eager to grow into a Project Manager role while working in a fast-paced commercial construction environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Project Managers in the planning, execution, and completion of commercial TI projects.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and document control.
  • Assist with project scheduling and monitor progress against milestones.
  • Track project budgets, change orders, purchase orders, and cost reports.
  • Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action items.
  • Perform site visits to monitor construction progress, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Assist with project closeout, including punch lists, as-built documentation, warranties, and final turnover packages.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and company quality standards.
  • Foster strong working relationships with clients, design teams, and subcontractors.

Preferred
  • Experience with occupied renovation or fast-track commercial projects.
  • Knowledge of local Phoenix building codes and permitting processes.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • LEED project experience is a plus.
