Job Title: Project Engineer - Small Capital Projects
Location: Gonzales, LA
Travel: 15-25%
Position Summary:
In this role, you will lead small capital projects (under $5MM) within the North America operations business, specifically in the Project Resource and Outage Support (PROS) Group. You will support strategic planning, turnaround planning, and turnaround execution. This team provides specialized services and additional capacity for infrequent events related to operational assets such as Hydrogen (H2, HyCO) and Air Separation plants.
Job Responsibilities:

1. Lead assigned capital projects (both standalone and projects within plant outages) and manage all engineering, design, and construction resources.
2. Develop project estimates, funding documents, schedules, and ongoing forecasts for plant-executed projects within SAP.
3. Ensure all projects undergo adequate process hazard reviews and operational readiness inspections (ORI's), ensuring timely completion of all recommendations.
4. Adhere to inherent process safety in all project designs.
5. Provide field supervision and support during project execution.
6. Manage project safety and ensure projects remain on budget and schedule.
7. Ensure all projects meet the operability needs of the customer.
8. Maintain a basic understanding of the operating plant environment.
9. Ensure quality standards are met as outlined by the company.

Safety Responsibilities:

1. Conduct Safety Kickoff Meetings with contractors and the operations team prior to project execution.
2. Confirm that contractors are aware of and follow all company safety standards.
3. Communicate safety goals clearly – zero recordables, zero first aids.
4. Complete short-term contractor BSP forms daily during project execution.
5. Complete JSA reviews and fill out the JSA Review form daily during project execution.
6. Participate in the Safe Work Permit issuance process with the operations team.
7. Lead daily morning safety/toolbox meetings with all crafts.
8. Report all incidents immediately.
9. Ensure all contractors have submitted an Emergency Action Plan prior to mobilization for project execution.
10. Participate in Safety Sampling and Critical Safety Audits during outages.
11. Attend and contribute to monthly Safety Meetings.

Additional Requirements:

1. Obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
2. Obtain a passport and pass refinery background checks.
