Job description

Join to apply for the Project Engineer role at POWER Engineers.

POWER Engineers, member of WSP, is currently seeking a Project Engineer to work with our Government Services Division. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an engineering team engaged in design projects in the Government market, including mission-critical infrastructure such as power delivery, power generation, power distribution, backup power, UPS systems, renewable energy, MEP design, and related projects.

Key skills for the successful candidate include strong team leadership, mentoring, excellent communication and presentation skills, motivation, a positive attitude, and the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently. The department is growing, and the successful applicant will play a vital role in developing a sustainable electrical department, interfacing directly with clients, and driving projects to successful completion within budget and schedule constraints.

Responsibilities include leading design teams, including sub-consultants, and working with federal clients on energy and infrastructure projects. The candidate must have a deeply technical engineering skill set, experience leading design teams, and interface with federal clients. Candidates should be licensed professional engineers in electrical or mechanical engineering.

Disclaimer: The candidate may work remotely full-time at a location other than a POWER-designated office or job site, with periodic travel to a POWER office for meetings.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Professional Engineering License with multi-state licensure ability
  • Seven (7) years of experience leading technical design teams on federal government projects, specifically with NAVFAC or USACE, and experience with design-build and design-bid-build projects for US government clients, familiar with UFC and UFGS standards
  • Seven (7) years of experience in electrical power distribution systems, mechanical systems, and building design
  • Broad understanding of architectural and engineering system designs and multi-discipline coordination
  • Ability to mentor teams and manage project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Excellent communication skills, willingness to travel domestically and internationally, and ability to work in a customer-focused environment
  • Must be a US Citizen

Desired Experience:

  • Ten (10) years of applicable experience leading design teams and in electrical or mechanical systems and building design
  • Ability and willingness to obtain security clearance
  • Experience with mission-critical infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency with CAD and BIM software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation
