Job summary

Ryan Companies US Inc is seeking a learning-focused team member to support construction projects on-site for at least six months, with potential continuation through an entire project. You will learn Ryan processes, procedures and policies while working from a project site.

Responsibilities include assisting with RFIs, shop drawings, vendor/subcontractor coordination, safety procedures, site logistics, permits and punchlist activities, and contributing to project scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and understand drawings, POs, contracts and cost-coding systems.
  • Strong interface and communication skills to work with project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the project team on designated projects while learning Ryan processes and policies.
  • Help generate RFIs and track approvals to support project progress.
  • Monitor and maintain the shop drawing log and coordinate shop drawings.
  • Learn dimensional control by field-verifying measurements to support drawing approvals.
  • Assist in coordinating and tracking Vendor and Subcontractor deliveries.
  • Learn Ryan Safety Policies and Procedures and project site safety practices.
  • Gain understanding of overall site logistics and permitting processes.
  • Support Punchlist inspections by Ryan and Owner, recording items and tracking completion.
  • Participate in preparing and updating the project schedule.

Job description

Job Description: This individual will assist the project team in the completion of designated projects with a focus on learning Ryan processes, procedures and business policies. The objective is to educate the employee in field and office operations while working from a construction project site for a minimum of six months and preferably for the duration of an entire construction project.

Some things you can expect to do:
  • Help generate Requests For Information (RFIs) and track approvals.
  • Monitor and maintain shop drawing log and shop drawing coordination.
  • Learn project dimensional control requirements while field verifying dimensions to back check the shop drawing approval process.
  • Assist in the coordination and tracking of Vendor and Subcontractor deliveries.
  • Learn Ryan Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Gain an understanding for overall site logistics.
  • Participate in and gain an understanding of the city and jurisdictional permit inspection process.
  • Keep office and jobsite plans updated with RFIs and ASIs.
  • Accompany Ryan personnel (and Owner) on Punchlist inspections, record Punchlist items and monitor completion of Punchlist work.
  • Participate in preparing and updating the project schedule.

To be successful in this role, you must have knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing. A bachelor's degree in a construction-related field is required. You must be able to perform mathematical calculations, understand architectural and engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, and cost-coding systems. You also must be able to assume responsibility, interface & communicate effectively.
