Job summary

Ryan Companies US, Inc. is seeking a learning-focused intern to assist the project team on a construction site for a minimum of six months, potentially the project duration.

The role exposes you to field and office operations, RFIs, shop drawings, safety policies, and coordination with vendors and subcontractors, with ongoing education in estimating techniques and cost control.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field is required.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and read architectural/engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the project team in completing designated projects while learning Ryan processes, procedures and business policies.
  • Work from a construction project site for at least six months, ideally the project duration.
  • Generate RFIs and track approvals.
  • Monitor and maintain shop drawing log and coordination.
  • Learn dimensional control and verify dimensions on site.
  • Coordinate and track Vendor and Subcontractor deliveries.
  • Learn Ryan Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Understand site logistics and permit inspection processes.
  • Update office and jobsite plans with RFIs and ASIs.
  • Attend Punchlist inspections and record items, monitor completion.
  • Assist in preparing and updating the project schedule.

Job Description:

This individual will assist the project team in the completion of designated projects with a focus on learning Ryan processes, procedures and business policies.

The objective is to educate the employee in field and office operations while working from a construction project site for a minimum of six months and preferably for the duration of an entire construction project.

Some things you can expect to do:
  • Help generate Requests For Information (RFIs) and track approvals.
  • Monitor and maintain shop drawing log and shop drawing coordination.
  • Learn project dimensional control requirements while field verifying dimensions to back check the shop drawing approval process.
  • Assist in the coordination and tracking of Vendor and Subcontractor deliveries.
  • Learn Ryan Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Gain an understanding for overall site logistics.
  • Participate in and gain an understanding of the city and jurisdictional permit inspection process.
  • Keep office and jobsite plans updated with RFIs and ASIs.
  • Accompany Ryan personnel (and Owner) on Punchlist inspections, record Punchlist items and monitor completion of Punchlist work.
  • Participate in preparing and updating the project schedule
