Job description

RK&K is currently hiring an experienced leader in Structural Engineering to support existing clients and develop new business opportunities firm-wide. As a senior member of our firmwide development team, you will lead diverse structural projects, primarily focused on transportation and bridge design, across RK&K's current and emerging service areas. Candidates should have state DOT experience, be proactive, and capable of developing innovative technical solutions with a strong understanding of structural operations and hands-on experience in bridge design and field operations.

This role offers remote work with required travel to project sites as necessary.

Essential Functions

1. Lead a structural design and engineering team in pursuit of new projects, overseeing the development and delivery of structural assignments.
2. Engage in business development and marketing efforts to secure future clients and workload.
3. Provide senior-level expertise on all project phases, including conceptual and detailed engineering, and the preparation of contract documents for construction, along with construction administration related to structural aspects.
4. Serve as Project/Program and Contract Manager on various structural projects.
5. Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations, and plan approvals.
6. Direct project staff and sub-consultants.
7. Act as liaison between clients and the firm.
8. Ensure quality assurance and quality control for the accuracy and completeness of design work.
9. Apply engineering judgment and initiative within the Structural Engineering field.

Required Skills and Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
2. Minimum of 10 years of bridge design experience.
3. Excellent communication skills, including proposal development.
4. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
5. Experience with federal, state, and local government projects.

Preferred Skills and Experience

1. Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
2. Experience working in multiple states.
