Job description

RK&K is currently hiring an experienced leader in Structural Engineering to support existing clients and develop new business opportunities firm-wide. As a senior member of our firmwide development team, you will lead various dynamic structural pursuits and projects, primarily focused on transportation and bridge design across RK&K's current and emerging service areas. Candidates should have state DOT experience, be proactive, develop innovative technical solutions, and possess a strong understanding of structural operations and hands-on experience with bridge design and field operations.

This role can be remote with required travel to project sites as needed.

Essential Functions

1. Lead a structural design and engineering team in pursuing new projects, overseeing the development and delivery of structural assignments.
2. Participate in business development and marketing efforts to secure future clients and workload.
3. Provide senior-level structural expertise on all project phases, including conceptual engineering, detailed design, contract document preparation, and construction administration related to structural aspects.
4. Serve as Project/Program and Contractual Manager for various structural projects.
5. Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations, and approval of plans.
6. Direct project staff and sub-consultants.
7. Act as liaison between clients and the firm.
8. Execute QA/QC to ensure design work is complete and accurate.
9. Apply engineering judgment and initiative within the Structural Engineering field.

Required Skills and Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
2. 10+ years of bridge design experience.
3. Excellent communication skills, including proposal development.
4. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
5. Experience with federal, state, and local government projects.

Preferred Skills and Experience

1. Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
2. Experience working in multiple states.
