Job description

RK&K is currently hiring an experienced leader in Structural Engineering to support existing clients and develop new business across the firm. As a senior member of our firmwide development team, you will lead various structural projects related to transportation, primarily focusing on bridges, within RK&K's current and new service areas. Candidates should have state DOT experience, be proactive, develop creative technical solutions, and possess a strong understanding of structural operations, including hands-on experience with bridge design and field operations.

This role can be remote with required travel to project sites as needed.

Essential Functions

1. Lead a structural design and engineering team in pursuing new projects and delivering structural assignments.
2. Participate in business development and marketing efforts to secure future clients and workload.
3. Provide senior-level expertise on all project aspects, including conceptual and detailed engineering, contract document preparation, and construction administration related to structural projects.
4. Serve as Project/Program and Contractual Manager for various structure-related projects.
5. Facilitate meetings, presentations, and plan approvals with internal teams and clients.
6. Direct project staff and sub-consultants.
7. Act as liaison between clients and the firm.
8. Execute QA/QC to ensure design work is complete and accurate.
9. Apply engineering judgment and initiative within the Structural Engineering field.

Required Skills and Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
2. 10+ years of bridge design experience.
3. Excellent communication skills, including proposal development.
4. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
5. Experience with federal, state, and local government projects.

Preferred Skills and Experience

1. Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
2. Experience working in multiple states.
