Job summary

MPI seeks a motivated Commercial Construction Project Coordinator to support project delivery across commercial builds in Minnesota. This role helps keep projects organized, on schedule, and running smoothly from start to finish.

You will assist in coordinating documentation, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and schedules, while communicating with field teams, subcontractors, architects, and clients to maintain alignment.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of commercial construction experience.
  • Experience with general contractors preferred.
  • Exposure to commercial, multifamily or renovation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of RFIs, submittals, change orders and plans/specs.
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and schedules.
  • Proficiency with construction project management software.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers in coordinating and executing commercial projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Manage documentation, RFIs, submittals, change orders and schedules.
  • Coordinate field teams, subcontractors, architects and clients to maintain alignment.
  • Assist in tracking budgets, costs and project progress.
  • Help drive schedules by monitoring deadlines and addressing delays.
  • Operate project management systems to maintain records and reporting.
  • Support procurement and subcontractor coordination for timely material delivery.
  • Provide consistent administrative and technical support for project execution.

Description
  • Support Project Managers in the coordination and execution of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Manage project documentation, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Coordinate communication between field teams, subcontractors, architects, and clients to maintain project alignment
  • Assist in tracking budgets, costs, and project progress to support financial performance goals
  • Help drive project schedules by monitoring deadlines and proactively addressing potential delays
  • Operate project management systems to maintain up-to-date records and reporting
  • Support procurement and subcontractor coordination to ensure timely delivery of materials and services
  • Deliver consistent administrative and technical support to ensure smooth project execution
Profile
  • 3-5+ years of experience in commercial construction (Project Coordinator, Project Engineer, or similar role)
  • Experience working for a general contractor strongly preferred
  • Exposure to commercial, multifamily, or renovation projects
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation (RFIs, submittals, change orders, plans/specs)
  • Ability to assist with project scheduling and coordination across multiple stakeholders
  • Proficiency with construction/project management software (e.g., "Procore or similar")
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to work collaboratively with field teams, subcontractors, and project managers
  • Construction-related degree (Construction Management, Engineering, or similar) preferred but not essential if experience is strong
