Job summary

West Yost seeks an Operations Technology Intern (Project Controls Specialist focus) in Phoenix, AZ. This in-office internship develops skills in project controls, budgeting, scheduling, data analysis, invoicing, and reporting while supporting project delivery with PMs and engineers.

You'll gain hands-on experience with budgeting, schedules, and dashboards, learning ERP systems and Excel; prior coursework in related fields is welcome. Travel may be required occasionally.

Qualifications

• Current pursuit or recent completion of a bachelor's degree in one of the listed disciplines.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Excel and ability to learn project management and ERP systems.
• Familiarity with ChatGPT or similar AI tools for professional workflows.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project setup including budgets, phases, tasks, and project controls requirements.
• Maintain and analyze project financials including budgets, expenditures, and forecasts.
• Coordinate monthly invoicing and prepare draft invoices and documentation.
• Support development of project schedules and milestones; track progress.
• Prepare status reports, dashboards, and tools communicating financial, schedule, and resource performance.
• Track changes, risks, and action items; update budgets and forecasts after changes.
• Coordinate recurring project controls activities with managers, staff and accounting.
• Support continuous improvement of project controls templates and reporting tools.
