Brunel Energy is recruiting a Project Controls Engineer to work with a major oil and gas company on a 12-month contract in Houston. The role focuses on building integrated schedules, managing budgets, and highlighting risks to support effective program delivery.

The incumbent will liaise with Leadership and Project Managers to create schedules, track performance, forecast costs, and ensure alignment with project objectives. Travel may be required to collaborate with project teams as needed.

Qualifications

Brunel Energy is recruiting a Project Controls Engineer to work with a major oil and gas company on a 12-month contract.

Position Summary

The Project Controls Engineer (PCE) will be part of the project delivery team(s), collaborating with leaders and Project Managers to develop and manage the overarching program schedule, individual project schedules, and budgets. The role will focus on building integrated schedules, identifying critical dependencies and milestones, managing project performance, and highlighting key risks to support effective program delivery.

The purpose of the role is to provide schedule and budget transparency, enabling the Leadership Team to manage complex schedules, critical risks, and resource allocation effectively.

Responsibilities:
Schedule & Project Controls
  • Liaise with the Leadership Team to build an integrated schedule, noting critical dependencies and Strategic Leadership Milestones (SLMs).
  • Liaise with specific Project Managers to create project-specific schedules and budgets.
  • Assist Project Managers in delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Support detailed stewardship and trending of project cost and schedule performance.
  • Monitor progress measurement and ensure accurate tracking against project objectives.
  • Assist in managing change processes to maintain alignment.
Analysis & Reporting
  • Conduct cost and schedule analysis, including reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and change management activities.
  • Track and forecast purchase orders and subcontracts as part of cost tracking and analysis.
  • Prepare monthly reporting deliverables covering cost, schedule, progress highlights, expenditure profiles, and critical milestones, while highlighting key risks.
  • Identify and communicate key delivery risks, opportunities for capital efficiency, risk mitigation, and areas of focus to support effective resource allocation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team, Project Managers, project teams, and functional groups to ensure effective communication, alignment, and program/project delivery.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Manufacturing Systems, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing and managing complex project schedules with critical interdependencies, identifying critical milestones, and creating effective reporting to highlight risks.
  • Knowledge of Cost / Planning & Scheduling Engineering areas.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a project team.
  • Possibility to travel as required to liaise with the appropriate project team.
