Katz Architecture is seeking a Project Architect with approximately 6–8 years of experience to join our New York City office. The role focuses on exterior restoration, restoration and preservation of existing buildings, with diverse projects in commercial, residential and cultural sectors.

Qualified candidates will have NYC FISP / Local Law 11 experience, strong detailing, construction-document skills and the ability to lead multi-project efforts while coordinating with clients and consultants.

Qualifications

Professional degree in Architecture.
Approximately 6–8 years of professional experience.
Experience with NYC FISP / Local Law 11 projects.
Significant experience with façade restoration, masonry repair, roofing and waterproofing.
Experience performing existing-condition investigations and exterior field inspections.
Experience producing and coordinating construction documents.
Experience carrying projects through construction administration.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, consultants and contractors.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Legal authorization to work in the United States.
QEWI qualification is highly desirable but not required.

PROJECT ARCHITECT – EXTERIOR RESTORATION & RENOVATION

6–8 Years Experience | New York City

Katz Architecture is seeking a talented Project Architect with approximately 6–8 years of experience to join our New York City office.

Our practice focuses on the renovation, restoration and preservation of existing buildings, with projects ranging from exterior restoration and building-envelope work to commercial and retail design, residential architecture, cultural projects and adaptive re-use.

For this position, professional experience with NYC FISP / Local Law 11, façade restoration, roofing and waterproofing is required. QEWI qualification is highly desirable but not required.

We are looking for a technically strong architect or architectural designer who is an excellent problem solver, communicates well, follows through, and enjoys taking responsibility for their work. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable investigating a building in the field, developing technical solutions, producing construction documents, and working with clients, consultants and contractors through construction.

The position combines exterior restoration work with opportunities to participate in the broader architectural practice of the firm. We are looking for someone who can bring real expertise to our exterior projects while continuing to develop as a well-rounded architect.

CANDIDATES MUST POSSESS:

Professional degree in Architecture
Approximately 6–8 years of professional experience
Professional experience with NYC FISP / Local Law 11 projects
Significant experience with façade restoration, masonry repair, roofing and waterproofing
Experience performing existing-condition investigations and exterior field inspections
Strong technical knowledge and detailing skills
Experience producing and coordinating construction documents
Experience carrying projects through construction administration

PARTICULARLY DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience independently managing FISP and exterior restoration projects
Experience with suspended scaffolds and other means of close-up façade inspection
Experience with NYC DOB and LPC processes
