Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Designer / Project Architect with 6 to 8 years of professional experience, including substantial experience with NYC projects, building code, zoning, construction documentation, and consultant coordination.

The selected candidate will take on a senior role across a broad range of project types, including new buildings, adaptive reuse, commercial, retail, mixed‑use, and multi‑family residential projects. This position requires strong design and technical abilities, sound professional judgment, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with internal teams, clients, consultants, and contractors.

The ideal candidate should be capable of leading design development, preparing and coordinating construction document sets, resolving technical issues, and managing project responsibilities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Architecture required; Master of Architecture preferred.
• Architectural license preferred but not required.
• 6 to 8 years of experience in a mid‑size to large architecture or A&E firm preferred.
• Significant experience with NYC projects, including building code, zoning analysis, DOB filing coordination, and construction documentation.
• Ability to develop and coordinate construction document sets, including plans, sections, details, wall sections, façade detailing, schedules, and consultant information.
• Experience with both ground‑up construction and adaptive reuse / renovation of existing buildings.
• Experience coordinating with MEP, structural, civil, façade, lighting, and specialty consultants.
• Ability to perform zoning and code analysis and translate regulatory requirements into coordinated design and documentation.
• Experience with construction administration tasks, including shop drawing review, submittals, RFIs, and field coordination.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and help coordinate internal production workflows.
• Strong design sensibility, graphic judgment, and ability to prepare presentation materials for clients and internal design reviews.
• Ability to create design presentation renderings for a variety of commercial project types, including retail, mixed‑use, and multi‑family residential projects.
• Strong organizational, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines.
