Job summary

SmithGroup’s San Francisco office seeks a Project Architect to lead a team of architects in delivering construction documents for complex senior living and residential projects. You will coordinate with contractors, owners, and consultants, and mentor junior staff to ensure project progress and quality.

The ideal candidate combines a bachelor’s degree in architecture with 10+ years of relevant experience, LEED AP and architectural registration preferred, and strong skills in Revit, AutoCAD,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of professional experience on senior living and/or residential projects.
  • LEED AP and Architectural Registration preferred.
  • Working knowledge of engineering systems and multi-disciplinary coordination.
  • Proven ability to communicate with clients and build relationships.
  • Strong mentoring and organizational skills.
  • High proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of architects to complete technical documents for complex projects.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and complete construction documents packages.
  • Oversee day-to-day construction administration with contractor, owner, and consultants.
  • Mentor junior staff and monitor their work.
  • Establish project work plan and staffing requirements.
  • Develop trusted relationships with clients and participate in recruiting.

The San Franciscooffice of SmithGroupis looking for aProject Architectto join our team.

Working with us, you will:
  • Lead a team of architects to complete technical documents for projects of complex nature.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and complete construction documents packages.
  • Lead day-to-day construction administration activities including coordination with the contractor, owner, and consultants to maintain project progress.
  • Mentor, provide oversight, and monitor the work performed by junior staff.
  • Establish and execute project work plan and staffing requirements.
  • Develop trusted relationships with clients.
  • Participate in recruiting and performance management of staff.
  • Meet with owners and user groups to determine program and planning requirements.
An ideal candidate has:
  • A bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience with medium to large-sized senior living and/or residental projects.
  • LEED AP and Architectural Registration preferred.
  • Working knowledge of engineering systems; can successfully engage with professionals in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with clients and build client relationships and trust.
  • Strong mentoring, written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • High proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Experience with wood framed construction is preferred.
  • Experience leading other architects and project teams.Demonstrated understanding of code implementation and jurisdiction review.
  • Demonstrated understanding of construction practices and methodologies.
