Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant in Germantown, WI to monitor project financials, manage budgets, track costs, and support billing and reporting across construction, engineering, or professional services environments.

The role requires 3+ years of project accounting experience, a Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, strong Excel and ERP skills, and meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate month-end close and insightful project Analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in project accounting, construction accounting, or job-cost accounting.
• Proficiency in ERP and accounting software systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial analysis.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with project costing, budgeting, billing, and revenue recognition.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain project financials from project initiation through completion.
• Track project costs, labor, materials, subcontractor expenses, and budget performance.
• Prepare and review customer invoices, progress billings, and contract billing schedules.
• Analyze project profitability and provide financial reporting to project managers and leadership.
• Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
• Reconcile project-related accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate reporting of project status and financial performance.
• Review contracts and customer agreements to ensure compliance with billing terms and project accounting requirements.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
• Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation as required.
• Maintain accurate records within accounting and ERP systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.
