Job summary

Andrews & Cole, LLC is seeking a candidate to manage a full range of accounting processes and financial reporting for a portfolio of real estate assets. You will work under the Director of Accounting, handling monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting for lenders and senior management.

The role demands a self-starter with attention to detail, entrepreneurial spirit, and problem solving for complex real estate transactions.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and monthly-close processes.
  • Ability to prepare journal entries for accruals, prepayments, and rent transactions.
  • Experience reviewing rent rolls, AR/AP, and job cost reports for GL accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and enter journal entries for accruals, prepayments, rent charges and receipts, and other monthly entries.
  • Review rent rolls, accounts receivable reports, accounts payable reports, and job cost reports ensuring accuracy against the general ledger.
  • Lead research and preparation of complex journal entries for acquisitions, dispositions, and loan closings.
  • Assist with accounts payable payment processing.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare month-end and quarterly close workbooks for senior management.
  • Assist development team with monitoring of capital projects by preparing and producing reports to analyze budget-to-actual variances.
  • Bill and track development management fees for each project.
  • Support development principals and investment group to produce accounting reports and construction draw packages for lenders.
  • Prepare required reporting for lenders of investment debt and monitor loan compliance regularly.
  • Work with tax preparer and auditors to produce year-end tax returns and audited financial statements and lender reporting requirements.
  • Assist development principals and investment group with annual project budgets.
  • Assist Managing Partners, CFO, CCO, and Director of Accounting with ad hoc tasks

Job description

Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this candidate will be responsible for a full range of accounting processes and financial reporting for a portfolio of real estate assets. This position requires knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles(“GAAP”) and monthly-close processes, preparing journal entries, and account reconciliations. In addition, this role requires a self-starter who is detail oriented, entrepreneurial, and a creative problem solver.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar
  • 2+ years of accounting experience in public accounting, REITs, commercial property management, or commercial real estate construction accounting
  • Licensed CPA or qualified to sit for the CPA
  • Experience with Yardi, MRI, or a similar program is preferred
