Job summary

Poma Metals Corp, a world class architectural metal fabricator, is seeking an experienced project accountant to manage multiple projects, including contract setup, NTOs, lien releases, AIA billing, and change orders. You'll work closely with project managers and the controller to ensure accurate billing and timely financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in construction accounting or project bookkeeping, is proficient with Sage 300 CRE/Timberline, Textura/Procore, Asana, Microsoft

We're seeking an experienced project accountant to join our team. No two projects are the same. Most of the work encompasses exterior architectural facade work, perforated metal facades, wall cladding, glass railings, trellises, canopies, sunshades, grilles, etc. The primary metals are aluminum and stainless.

The ideal candidate will be well versed in principles and practice of construction accounting, contracts and billing. You'll need strong skills in Sage 300/Timberline, Textura/Procore, Asana, Microsoft Office, Excel, & Outlook. Information flows very quickly electronically today so you must be highly organized and driven to meet the customers’ demanding schedules.

Candidates who have worked in similar industries such as miscellaneous metals and structural steel would have a major advantage and skills and attitude are just as important.

Summary/Objective:

The construction project accountant position is responsible for managing multiple projects including contract and job setup, NTOs, lien releases, AIA billing, insurance compliance, and change order tracking. This position will require communication with the customers’ project accounting and management team as well as POMA’s project managers.

Reports to: Controller

Essential Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and ability required.

  • Experience in project accounting and job costing
  • Experienced user of Sage 300 CRE/Timberline. Textura and Procore experience highly preferred
  • Set up new jobs and contracts in accounting and billing systems
  • Prepare monthly applications for payment, invoices, lien release documents and stored material documentation as required.
  • Occasional SOV creation for projects of smaller or abbreviated scopes of work.
  • Maintain record of all billing deadlines by project along with an up to date contacts list.
  • Set recurring reminders to provide project management teams with advanced notice and reminders of upcoming billings.
  • Monitor and maintain detailed schedules to ensure compliance with NTOs, notices of non‑payment, and mechanic’s liens are filed timely.
  • Maintain complete job files (electronic and paper) including material certifications, delivery tickets, stored material documentation, etc.
  • Review RCO and change order logs and work with project managers to ensure timely receipt of change orders from customers.
  • Work with the project management department to establish and enter cost estimates for all awarded projects.
  • Tracking and logging of installation subcontractors progress and billings by project.
  • Tracking, logging and billing for monthly unit‑based safety rail system.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly accounts receivable aging reports and work with Controller and Project Executives to follow up on past due payment applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in an office setting where peace and quiet is expected by colleagues.

Attire and Personal Protective Equipment:

Business casual clothing required. PPE not required for office work. Safety glasses and closed toe shoes must be worn at all times when walking shop

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee will be primarily in a seated position throughout the day working in front of a multi‑display computer. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, talk and hear.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full‑time, hourly position, and typical work hours are between 8am-5:30PM.

No overnight travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience
  • College graduate preferred but not required
  • 3+ years of experience in the construction Industry
  • 3+ years in a project accounting/bookkeeping position.
