Job summary

The HFW Companies in Boca Raton, FL is seeking a Project Accountant to support the Regional Finance Manager and partner firms. You will handle AR/AP, invoicing cycles, and in-depth project financial analysis, collaborating with Project Managers to ensure accurate data flow and timely invoices.

Ideal candidates will have a accounting/finance background and strong knowledge of project accounting, with proficiency in ERP and accounting software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or equivalent.
  • Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of project and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of GAAP and ability to apply it to project accounting.
  • Proficiency with professional services accounting software.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Provide AR/AP support and manage invoicing cycles for projects.
  • Work with Project Managers and finance teams on monthly invoicing.
  • Generate and analyze weekly/payable reports and track cash flow.

Project Accountant
Position Summary

As a key player in our expansion, you will provide essential support to the Regional Finance Manager and collaborate closely with HFW's partner firms on a variety of projects. This role is integral to the financial operations of the firm, assisting in accounts payable and receivable (AR/AP) functions, managing invoicing cycles, and performing in-depth project financial analysis. The Project Accountant will work directly with Project Managers and finance teams to ensure the timely and accurate flow of project-related financial data, including processing invoices, monitoring cash flow, and assisting in audits.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Serve as technical support to the Regional Finance Manager and apply best practices combined with effective emerging methodologies
  • Assist HFW Member Firms with AR/AP functions.
  • Work directly with Member Firm Project Managers and Finance Teams during monthly invoicing cycles.
  • Issue monthly invoices to HFW partner firms in a timely manner
  • Process AP vendor invoices in compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Generate weekly reports detailing accounts payables status
  • Assist with in-depth project analysis and prepare periodic reports to provide guidance to Project Managers/Directors and assist them in making informed financial decisions
  • Assist with analyzing unbilled costs, WIP, A/R, and billings in excess of earnings to help drive improvements on project cashflows, working capital, and bottom-line margin
  • May engage in internal/external audits
  • Develop strong relationships with HFW member firms' accounting teams by driving effective communications
  • Office manager experience - daily manager or office activities, mail, supplies, work with IT, vendors and landlord.
  • Marketing, prepare presentations for government projects, work on 330's, resumes, government forms, insurance forms, coordinate with sub consultants.
  • Collections of account receivables, work with private sector and government agencies to collect payments, contact clients, some driving to local offices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Education / Experience : Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in accounting, finance or equivalent; and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of project and cost accounting
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Highly proficient with professional services accounting software
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Language Ability : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to author reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Math Ability : Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.
  • Reasoning Ability : Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills : To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software; and ERP database software.
  • Travel : Jobholder is expected to travel on occasion for introductory meetings, member firm finance team touch base meetings and possibly onsite member firm assistance.
