Job summary

Scion Staffing, Inc. is seeking a Project Accountant for an established engineering services organization in Northwest Austin. The role will manage cost and revenue activities, ensure contract compliance, and handle client invoicing.

It will collaborate with field managers to track expenses and prepare reports. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable balancing project accounting with accounts payable in a deadline‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet recurring deadlines

Responsibilities

• Manage financial activity for assigned projects, including payroll, expense reports, supply and material purchases, and project cost tracking.
• Maintain project setup and ensure contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle, including monitoring scope changes.
• Prepare weekly and monthly client invoices while coordinating with field managers to obtain necessary employee assignment details and customer documentation.
• Reconcile project financial activity with general ledger postings, including accounts receivable and unbilled revenue.
• Maintain project purchase orders and process vendor invoices to support accurate expense tracking and timely accounts payable processing.
• Prepare financial reports and performance metrics to support management oversight and decision‑making

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Project Accountant will manage the cost and revenue activities of assigned field projects, ensuring accurate financial records, contract compliance, and timely client invoicing. This role will collaborate with field managers and internal stakeholders to track project expenses, reconcile financial activity, and prepare reports that support business operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable balancing project accounting responsibilities with accounts payable activities in a deadline-driven environment.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This full-time, hourly position offers $20–$24 per hour + quarterly bonuses. Benefits include paid time off, a 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with four days onsite and one day remote per week.
