Job summary

Forge Constructors is seeking a Project Accountant to support project- and corporate-level accounting functions. You will partner with project managers, subcontractors, and leadership to ensure accurate billing, cost tracking, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience).
• 2–5 years of project accounting experience in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in Sage 300 CRE strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Procore strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of job cost accounting, AP/AR, and financial reporting.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and process owner billings, subcontractor pay applications, change orders, and lien waivers.
• Maintain accurate job cost records and monitor budget vs. actual reports for assigned projects.
• Support project teams in tracking committed costs, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with contract terms.
• Manage AP/AR functions related to construction projects, including invoice coding and payment processing.
• Assist with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and Controller on corporate-level accounting needs.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
• Provide timely and professional communication with project managers, subcontractors, and clients.

Position Overview
The Project Accountant will play a critical role in supporting both project-level accounting and corporate accounting functions. This position will partner closely with Project Managers, Subcontractors, the Accounting Manager and Controller to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, job cost tracking, and billing. The ideal candidate has a solid background in construction accounting, strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
