Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Clinical Unit Leader for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at West Hospital. The Lead RN/Charge Nurse coordinates patient care with the Clinical Manager, guiding staff to deliver compassionate, high-quality care while optimizing unit efficiency.

Required are an active RN license (compact where applicable) and BSN preferred; leadership, collaboration and communication skills are essential to drive patient outcomes and staff development in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required)
• Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred)
• BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP/ TNCC/ENPC certifications preferred
• Leadership and staff development experience preferred
• Experience in acuity-based unit leadership preferred
• Knowledge of quality and patient safety practices preferred

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care on a designated unit with the Clinical Manager
• Lead and mentor nursing staff and preceptors
• Adjust schedules and assignments for acuity and resource needs
• Ensure environmental safety standards and infection control compliance
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and care teams
• Participate in quality monitoring and performance improvement initiatives
• Facilitate patient placement, admissions, transfers and discharges
