Job summary

Mercy Health’s West Hospital seeks a Clinical Unit Leader for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The Lead RN/Charge Nurse will coordinate patient care on a designated unit and work with the Clinical Manager to maintain an environment of clinical excellence and high patient satisfaction.

The role requires supervising staff, ensuring safe patient placement, and promoting interprofessional collaboration while managing resources and operations effectively.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in state where working or compact license.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred upon hire; must obtain from approved source before patient care.
• Certifications required based on the unit overseen (e.g., ACLS, PALS, ENPC) are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient care on a designated unit with the clinical manager.
• Guides staff, provides clinical support, and covers unit leadership in the absence of the leader.
• Maintains knowledge of environmental safety standards and infection control; uses supplies and equipment appropriately.
• Communicates with patients and families regarding nursing interventions and care plans.
• Rounds on patients to assess safety, quality, and patient experience.
• Serves as a resource to staff, patients, and families to ensure clear communication.
