Responsibilities

  • Develops, modifies and maintains complex programs and reports for PCC data needs.
  • Analyzes and plans systems based on PCC requirements and staff input.
  • Designs and documents systems and data flows for university workflows.
  • Develops databases, programs and procedures to integrate systems and ensure reliability.
  • Documents systems for user departments in line with PCC standards.
  • Assists users with implementation, training and troubleshooting of systems.
  • Provides technical advice, ad-hoc reports, data corrections and vendor liaison as needed.

Reporting to the Academic Systems Manager, the Programmer Analyst II troubleshoots complex data issues, assesses potential data-focused solutions, and designs and implements reports and data extracts for diverse higher education needs, including both technical and non-technical audiences. Additionally, you may serve as a consultant and technical expert during the development of more complex business processes and procedures.

This position is responsible for both Academic Affairs and Student Affairs application systems.

This position is 95% remote with occasional required on-campus meetings.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops, modifies and maintains complex programs. Monitors the operation of assigned programs and responds to problems by diagnosing and correcting errors in logic and coding. Develops special programs, such as a critical path analysis program to assist in managing a special project. Reviews user requirements and needs for new software and performs analysis, design, implementation, installation and training related to new software developed and/or acquired.
  • Analyzes and plans systems based on consultations with PCC management and/or staff. Document system plan and establishes an implementation schedule.
  • Designs and documents systems based on analysis results and further consultation with PCC management and staff.
  • Develops data bases, programs and procedures necessary to integrate and/or implement the system. Tests system fully to determine its operational reliability.
  • Documents system for user department and ITS conforming to institutional standards.
  • Assists user and operating areas in implementing and supporting systems including system installation, training and troubleshooting.
  • Carries out fact-finding and program analysis of problems; determines most appropriate procedures to resolve. Provides technical advice and support to users. This includes creating ad-hoc reports, data analysis and correction, training and problem solving. Assists in selecting hardware and software to be used by college staff. Maintains contact with vendors to assist support activities. Serves as technical advisor to user staff who do programming functions. May install, modify and maintain systems and utility software on server computer systems. Provides server support related to network software. May guide or provide work direction to lower level Programmer/Analysts, other technical staff and/or student employees.
