Job description

The Salvation Army Northern Division Minneapolis Parkview Corps is committed to “Doing the Most Good” by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include food, clothing, utility and rent assistance, housing support, and both short- and long-term case management, along with connections to community resources.

The Program Support Staff supports day-to-day programs and services through participant assistance, program coverage, event and seasonal support, Corps and community outreach activities, and social services support. The position works across program areas to help ensure activities and services operate smoothly and effectively. Flexibility is essential, as responsibilities and schedules may shift based on program, seasonal, and operational needs.

$16.37 per hour

40 hours per week, occasional weekends and evenings

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)

  • Program Operations & Participant Support (50%): Support day-to-day program operations, including program setup and coverage, participant check-in/out, maintaining a welcoming environment, assisting participants and visitors, and supporting program activities.
  • Events & Seasonal Programs (25%): Assist with events, trips, seasonal initiatives, and special activities, including Red Kettle and other seasonal campaigns. Provide logistical, operational, and on-site support as needed.
  • Corps & Community Outreach Support (15%): Assist with Corps activities, Sunday services, community outreach, and other ministry-related programs and events.
  • Social Services Support (5%): Assist with food pantry and other social services activities, including setup, distributions, participant assistance, and general operational support.
  • Data Management (5%): Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant information and program records.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must successfully pass all background checks.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and meet The Salvation Army’s requirements for authorized drivers.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with participants, staff, volunteers, and community members.
  • Responds appropriately in routine and challenging situations.
  • Organized and dependable, with basic recordkeeping and scheduling skills.
  • Works effectively as part of a team and contributes to a positive environment.
  • Adapts to changing priorities, schedules, and program needs.
  • Basic proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and standard office systems.

Working Conditions

  • Combination of indoor and outdoor work in program, office, community, and event settings.
  • Regular movement throughout the facility and program areas; frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and other physical activity related to programming and events.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 30 pounds and assist with program and event setup.
  • Evening and weekend hours required based on program, event, and seasonal needs.
  • This is a fully in-person position.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None.

Driving/Travel Requirements

  • Regular local driving may be required in support of programs, events, seasonal campaigns, and other Corps operations using an agency vehicle.
