Cuesta College is recruiting for short-term Program Support Assistant positions to support the Basic Needs Center and Food Pantry. Two roles will cover both campus locations to ensure consistent service delivery and access for students, with evening hours possible.

  • Help ensure programs are accessible, inclusive, and student-centered.
  • Provide general operational support for day-to-day activities.
  • Track participation and compile basic program data in databases/spreadsheets.
  • Coordinate and set up events, workshops, and activities.
  • Distribute materials and share program information for outreach.
  • Perform data entry, filing and document preparation.
  • Maintain organized materials, supplies and shared spaces.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.

Job description

This is a recruitment for a short-term/temporary position

This position supports the daily operations of the Basic Needs Center, including the Food Pantry, while enhancing student engagement through outreach events and activities that increase awareness and access to essential services. This role may require evening hours to support programming and student needs.

Two (2) Program Support Assistant positions will be filled, with one assigned to each campus location ensure consistent service delivery and student access across sites.

Definition

The Program Support Assistant supports the daily operations, programs, and activities of assigned program(s). Under general supervision, this role supports events, outreach, and administrative tasks to help maintain organized operations and promote access to campus resources.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This position provides flexible support for programs and operations across multiple functions and departments.

Essential Functions
  • Provide front-line support by welcoming and assisting students, staff, and visitors;
  • Serve as a liaison among faculty, student services, counselors, and administrators to connect students with appropriate support;
  • Support regular contact with students through in-person, virtual, and email communication, including follow-ups and referrals;
  • Help ensure programs and services are accessible, inclusive, and student-centered;
  • Provide general operational support to ensure smooth day-to-day activities;
  • Assist with tracking participation and compiling basic program data in relevant databases and spreadsheets;
  • Assist with the coordination and set-up of events, workshops, and program activities;
  • Support outreach by distributing materials and sharing program information;
  • Perform basic administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and document preparation;
  • Maintain organized program materials, supplies, and shared spaces;
  • Perform other related duties as required; and
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students.

Experience:

Preferred

  • Previous experience supporting programs, events, or customer service in an educational or community-based setting is preferred
