Job summary

Self-Help For The Elderly in San Francisco, CA is seeking a program manager to oversee disability and aging services initiatives, supervise staff, and coordinate complex citizenship-related programs and classes.

The role requires collaboration with multiple agencies, reporting, outreach, and direct client services, including naturalization applications. Strong organizational skills and bilingual English-Cantonese are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in human services or related field; at least one year of experience in naturalization, education, social, or aging services in a community-based setting.
• Program management or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Board of Immigration Appeals accreditation strongly preferred.
• Sensitive to the needs of the elderly and disabled adults from diverse ethnic and minority cultures.
• Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual in English and Cantonese preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office and the Internet.
• Must be able to travel via public transportation or personal vehicle for performance of job duties.

Responsibilities

• Implements and updates administrative and operating procedures and guidelines for program implementation; revises program material as needed.
• Collaborates with the Citizenship Education Coordinator to coordinate testing in all classes and reviews student data.
• Implements program evaluation activities and procedures for consumer feedback on services; compiles and analyzes results.
• Conducts outreach and develops relevant materials as needed.
• Prepares reports for submission to the Department of Disability and Aging Services, San Francisco Pathways to Citizenship Initiative, California Department of Education, and SF Connected programs.
• Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates program staff.
• Represents the program as required and attends regular meetings held by USCIS, SF Pathways to Citizenship, SF Tech Council, SF Connected, and other relevant entities.
• Responsible for being the main contact to facilitate, coordinate, and promote SF Pathways naturalization workshops and SF Connected classes.
• Provides direct services to consumers, including answering calls, conducting intake, making referrals, filing applications for naturalization (N-400) and related forms, making inquiries to USCIS, and accompanying clients to citizenship interviews.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
