Job summary

Chimes Metro, Inc. in Newark, NJ is seeking an entry-level supervisor to lead a designated staff team, provide training, coaching and performance evaluations, and ensure active treatment for people served.

You will coordinate staffing, monitor safety, document incidents, apply crisis intervention when needed, and partner with management to reduce turnover while meeting DOL regulations and program expectations. This role supports growth within a purpose-driven nonprofit.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree is required; Bachelor's degree in a related area is preferred.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities is a plus.

This is an entry level position.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION(S):
  • Provides supervision, training, coaching, discipline and performance evaluation to an assigned group of staff and persons served. Provides feedback and discipline, along with the program manager, when appropriate.
  • Verifies the staff attendance and ensures staff is providing active treatment for all people assigned.
  • Ensures there is adequate staff in attendance at the program and obtains temporary staff or alternate staffing options when needed
  • Assesses the need for adaptive equipment to enhance people's productivity/activity level and makes appropriate referrals and suggestions to the appropriate manager.
  • Confirms that adequate materials are in place at the start of each shift and throughout the program time
  • Documents incidents as needed
  • Uses crisis intervention skills in emergency situations when needed
  • Responsible for staff development including program orientation, completion of training, and ongoing learning of direct support staff.
  • Works with manager and implements strategies to reduce turnover
  • Conducts visits and/or inspections of assigned areas to ensure all contractual specifications are being met
  • Familiar with all DOL regulations as relating to persons served and ensures they are all being met
  • Serves as a positive role model for other employees in the program
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:

Associate Degree is required; Bachelor's degree in a related area is preferred

EXPERIENCE:

Two years of supervisory experience. Experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities is a plus. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Must have a care and an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the agency's insurance carrier and policy.

NOTE: At the discretion of the Personnel Officer, additional related experience and/or education may be substituted in lieu of the requirements specified above under Education and Experience.
