Job summary

Job description

Columbia Basin College ("CBC" or the "College") seeks a Program Specialist 2 to provide program support for Workforce Education initiatives that promote recruitment, retention, persistence and completion of students, with an emphasis on Perkins Special Populations and students entering non-traditional fields. The position assists with implementing activities identified through the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) by supporting student outreach, tracking program outcomes, maintaining Perkins Grant compliance documentation and coordinating assigned program activities. This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Instruction.

This position closes on August 30, 2026 @ 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

  • Compile, analyze, and maintain workforce student outcome data and prepare routine and ad hoc reports on recruitment, retention, persistence, completion, Special Populations, non-traditional student participation, and Perkins reporting and compliance, performance indicators, decision-making, and continuous improvement;
  • Coordinate with Institutional Research to develop, administer, and summarize surveys of prospective students, current students, parents, employers, and other stakeholders;
  • Collect and summarize information regarding barriers to student enrollment, persistence, and completion to support program improvement and student success initiatives;
  • Track participation and outcomes associated with outreach, recruitment, retention, and student success initiatives to evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Collect and summarize advisory committee feedback, demographics, and participation data to support Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA), Perkins planning, program improvement, and diverse stakeholder engagement;
  • Support outreach, recruitment, and engagement activities for prospective and current students, with an emphasis on Perkins Special Populations, students entering non-traditional fields, and participation in workforce programs;
  • Support Advising, Student Services, faculty, completion coaches, and other campus partners in implementing CLNA-identified strategies, student persistence initiatives, and coordinated interventions to address academic and non-academic barriers;
  • Connect students with appropriate campus and community resources to support enrollment, retention, persistence, and completion, including work-based learning and career exploration opportunities;
  • Maintain records of outreach, student contacts, referrals, and follow-up activities to document services and support evaluation of student success initiatives;
  • Assist with Perkins Grant reporting, purchases, compliance documentation; and
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an institutionally accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education/training/experience.

This position is a full-time, grant funded, overtime eligible classified staff position. The typical work hours for this position are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., however, must be available to work a flexible schedule when prior notice is given by the College. This position is available immediately.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including having the ability to move materials on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc. and travel between buildings on campus. Manual dexterity and coordination are required to operate equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.

Working Conditions

Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.
