Qualifications

Program Specialist

Type: Regular

Reports To:

IDD Regional Operations Director

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position supervises Day Program Supervisors and Direct Support Professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide direct supervision to Day Program Supervisors and Direct Support Professionals.
  2. Lead day-to-day operations of Day Habilitation programs, including providing guidance, direction, and support to achieve organizational goals.
  3. Manage the fiscal aspects of day programs, including budgeting, monitoring expenses, and implementing corrective actions.
  4. Collaborate with guardians, professionals, and staff to develop individualized programs for individuals supported.
  5. Coordinate between day programs, community workers, and employees to ensure seamless service delivery.
  6. Build and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, community organizations, and industry partners.
  7. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements at the program level.
  8. Motivate, mentor, and develop a high-performance team.
  9. Recruit, hire, evaluate, and manage staff in collaboration with HR.
  10. Ensure staff training and adherence to procedures, including scheduling and supply management.
  11. Stay informed about new developments in the ID/DD field and incorporate best practices.
  12. Assist with behavioral interventions and ensure proper handling and positioning of individuals supported.
  13. Audit medication administration practices.
  14. Participate in inspections and investigations as required.
  15. Contribute to multidisciplinary teams to support therapeutic and behavioral plans.
  16. Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field; Master’s preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • At least five years of management experience working with individuals with mental health or developmental disabilities.
  • CPR, First Aid, NCI, and MedTech certifications are a plus.
  • Qualified or eligible to qualify as a Habilitation Technician II (med certified).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including squatting, kneeling, crawling, and standing.
  • Proficiency in CPR and ability to work in various physical positions.
  • Visual and auditory capabilities to perform job functions.
