Job summary

Crisis Center of Comal County in New Braunfels, TX is seeking a Program / Outreach Coordinator to develop engaging shelter activities and build community partnerships to support survivors on their path to stability. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; ten years of closely related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Strong public speaking, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Current, valid Texas driver's license and proof of auto liability insurance.
  • Ability to safely operate agency vehicles, including a van and a 14-passenger bus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate a monthly calendar featuring a minimum of three daily activities designed to promote wellness, life skills, education, family engagement, recreation, and employment readiness.
  • Create engaging programming such as movie nights, parenting classes, budgeting workshops, wellness activities, exercise groups, holiday celebrations, community outings, and resource education.
  • Build strong relationships with community organizations, employers, schools, healthcare providers, faith communities, volunteers, and other partners to expand opportunities for shelter residents.
  • Represent the Crisis Center at community meetings, networking events, outreach activities, and public presentations to increase awareness of agency services and strengthen community partnerships.
  • Coordinate volunteers and community partners who support shelter programming and resident activities.
  • Assist residents through supportive interactions, crisis intervention, de-escalation, transportation, and referrals while maintaining a trauma-informed approach.
  • Track resident participation, maintain activity supplies, document outreach efforts and client interactions, and ensure activities are organized, safe, and welcoming.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to support resident success while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with agency policies.

A Program / Outreach Coordinator

The Crisis Center of Comal County (CCCC) is seeking a Program / Outreach Coordinator to develop engaging shelter activities, foster community partnerships, and help survivors build the skills and relationships they need to move toward long-term stability and independence.

About the Role

In this role, you will design and coordinate a vibrant schedule of educational, recreational, wellness, and life-skills programming for adults, children, and families residing in shelter. You will also serve as an ambassador for the Crisis Center by building relationships with community organizations, employers, schools, volunteers, and other partners that expand opportunities and resources for our residents.

This position combines creativity, organization, community engagement, and direct client interaction. You will work closely with shelter staff, clinicians, volunteers, and community partners to ensure residents have access to enriching activities, employment resources, educational opportunities, and supportive connections that promote healing and self-sufficiency.

What You'll Do

Additional Requirements

Degree in Social Work or a related human services field preferred.

One to two years of experience in social services, community outreach, program coordination, or a related field preferred.

Strong public speaking, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.

Current, valid Texas driver's license and proof of auto liability insurance.

Ability to safely operate agency vehicles, including a van and a 14-passenger bus.

Ability to pass an extensive background check, including fingerprinting, drug screen, and driver record check.

First Aid and CPR certification required (may be completed after hire with agency support).

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, homelessness, or other vulnerable populations.

Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention.

Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Experience coordinating volunteers, community events, or outreach initiatives.
