Job summary

The Roy & Patricia Disney Family Foundation in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Program Officer to lead grantmaking and support grantees within our equity, justice, and sustainability priorities. You will collaborate with staff to identify opportunities, review proposals, monitor progress, and develop partnerships with funders while promoting capacity building and community impact.

This role requires at least 5 years of field experience, strong policy and program design knowledge, and a commitment

Qualifications

• BA/BS plus 5+ years of field experience in community development, urban planning, environmental justice, economic development or advocacy/organizing.
• Deep understanding of root causes related to poverty, environmental degradation, urban decay and criminal injustice.
• Mission oriented with a proven commitment to social justice.
• First-hand experience advancing policy through nonprofits, philanthropy or government.
• Ability to articulate strategies for strengthening organizations, coalitions and narratives.

Responsibilities

• Refine grant making objectives and approaches.
• Identify grant opportunities and strategic partnerships aligned with priorities.
• Review proposals, conduct site visits, and prepare analyses.
• Monitor grantee progress and identify opportunities for growth and capacity building.
• Engage with grantees to review opportunities and challenges.
• Develop collaborations with local, regional, and national funders.
• Take leadership in funder affinity groups and collaboratives.
• Prepare internal and external materials; represent the Foundation at events.
• Stay current on philanthropy, justice, urban planning and community development.
