Job summary

The Scherman Foundation Inc. seeks a Program Officer to advance our grants portfolio with a strong emphasis on racial, economic, and social justice and environmental sustainability.

This role will support alignment of programs with our core commitments and collaborate across teams to maximize impact. You will manage and co-manage grantmaking across multiple portfolios, including Arts, Democracy, Environmental and Climate Justice, Reproductive Justice, and Strengthening New York Communities.

Qualifications

• Strong candidates will have a deep understanding of racial justice grantmaking.
• Familiarity with organizing and movement-building is preferred.
• Experience in grantmaking across arts, democracy, environmental/climate justice, reproductive justice, or community initiatives is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage and co-manage grantmaking in one or more portfolios within the foundation.
• Collaborate with staff, grantees, and philanthropic partners to align programs with justice and sustainability goals.
