The Student Academic Success Center (SASC) at CU Boulder invitesapplications for The Program Manager – Scholarly Engagement andPost-Baccalaureate Success position! This is a part-time universitystaff position in the Student Academic Success Center (SASC) thatsupports a research-intensive learning program and assignedscholarly engagement initiatives. Reporting to the ProgramDirector, this position serves on a three-member team that providesday-to-day oversight and operational support for the portfolio’sprograms and services.
The Program Manager serves as the primary day-to-day coordinatorfor the Puksta Scholars Program, with direction from the ProgramDirector, supports scholarly engagement and post-baccalaureatesuccess initiatives across SASC. Responsibilities includerecruitment and onboarding; advising and coaching; workshops,activities, and events; communications, records management, andassessment support; and coordination of student participation inhigh-impact scholarly engagement and post-baccalaureate preparationexperiences.
This position helps implement upper-division programming inscholarly activity and civic learning; faculty mentorship andundergraduate research; fellowship applications and graduate orprofessional school preparation; and other enrichment experiences. The position coordinates assigned program processes; maintainseffective working relationships with educational opportunityprograms, campus offices, research faculty, and community partners;and recommends improvements based on student needs, successoutcomes, and operational efficiencies. Who We Are
The Student Academic Success Center (SASC) is an educationalopportunity center in the Office of Undergraduate Education withinAcademic Affairs at the University of Colorado Boulder. For morethan 60 years, SASC has supported student success through amission-inspired learning community of students, faculty, and staffwhose backgrounds and pathways are historically non-traditional inhigher education.
Within SASC, the Scholarly Engagement and Post-Baccalaureateportfolio comprises the McNair Scholars Program which serves 25students engaged in undergraduate research, and the Puksta ScholarsProgram which serves 16 students engaged in community-basedprojects. Together, these two research-focused programs andexpanded upper-division services contribute to the pre-college topost-baccalaureate pathway in SASC by advancing scholarlyengagement, civic learning, and preparation for post-baccalaureateopportunities for our students.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Program and Portfolio Operations
- Facilitates day-to-day operations for the Puksta ScholarsProgram and assigned portfolio initiatives across the academic yearservice cycle.
- Responsible for recruitment and outreach; application andselection; onboarding and orientation; and year-round engagementand retention of Puksta Scholars.
- Leads the Puksta Scholars Program plan of operations incollaboration with the Program Director, including advisingsupport, enrichments, and student success initiatives.
- Coordinates program calendars, events, retreats, meetings, andworkshops that support scholarly engagement, civic learning,academic achievement, and post-baccalaureate preparation.
- Serves as the primary operational contact for Puksta Scholarsand coordinates routine communication, follow-up, referrals, andresolution of program questions.
- Supports new upper-division scholarly engagement initiatives bysupporting logistics, materials, events, and other assignedcomponents.
Student Engagement and Enrichment
- Provides high-contact student support that strengthensstudents’ academic, scholarly, civic, and post-baccalaureatedevelopment.
- Provides individualized advising, coaching, and developmentalsupport to Puksta Scholars and students participating in assignedscholarly engagement initiatives.
- Helps students develop and monitor academic, scholarly, civic,leadership, research, and post-baccalaureate goals.
- Connects students with faculty mentors and researchopportunities; scholarships and fellowships; graduate orprofessional preparation resources; career development, academicsupport, and other campus resources.
- Facilitates educational experiences and community-buildingactivities that strengthen scholarly engagement, civic learning,belonging, leadership development, and post-baccalaureatepreparation.
- Monitors student engagement, identifies barriers to persistenceor participation, and coordinates with the Program Directorappropriate interventions and referrals.
Assessment and Improvement
- Manages records, data collection, documentation, and reportingprocesses that support assessment, accountability, and continuousimprovement.
- Maintains accurate student records, participation data,advising documentation, program files, calendars, handbooks, forms,resource materials, curricular or co-curricular materials, andassessment data in accordance with university or sponsor policiesand program requirements.
- Facilitates collection of participation, engagement,satisfaction, academic progress, and outcome data for program andassigned scholarly engagement initiatives.
- Supports the Program Director with the assessment cycle,including data collection, organization, and preliminary analysisto inform program review and improvement.
- Identifies operational trends and student needs and sharesrecommendations with The Program Director to improve programprocesses, services, and student experiences.
- Supports preparation of internal reports, program summaries,assessment materials, sponsor updates, and other documentationrequired for planning and evaluation.
Communications and Partnerships
- Coordinates communications, outreach, and working relationshipsthat promote participation and expand student access to scholarlyand post-baccalaureate opportunities.
- Develops routine communications with Puksta Scholars and otherparticipants in assigned scholarly engagement initiatives throughappropriate digital, print, presentation, and outreachchannels.
- Coordinates recruitment and outreach communications, includingclear, accessible, and student-centered materials for programs,events, research opportunities, fellowships, and graduatepreparation activities.
- Maintains assigned communication resources, including webcontent, calendars, newsletters, resource guides, and relatedmaterials.
- Assists the Program Director with maintaining workingrelationships with department-based faculty, research and graduateeducation partners, scholarship and fellowship programs, careerservices, libraries, and other campus and community partners tosupport student referrals, programming, and access toopportunities.
- Works with campus partners, in consultation with the ProgramDirector, to connect students with research projects, scholarlyevents, post-baccalaureate preparation, and related opportunities;supports program and assigned portfolio initiatives at relevantcampus events, meetings, orientations, and professional developmentactivities.
Resource and Team Support
- Provides administrative, fiscal, and team support foreffective, compliant, and student-centered program delivery.
- Coordinates routine administrative and fiscal processes relatedto events, purchasing, travel, stipends, scholarships, and programactivities.
- Tracks expenditures, student-support resources, and programdeliverables to support budget monitoring, reconciliation, andplanning.
- Supports scheduling, onboarding, and communication withgraduate assistants, student employees, peer mentors, volunteers,faculty mentors, instructors, and other personnel or volunteers asassigned.
- Provides logistical support for team meetings, trainings,retreats, professional development activities, and programplanning.
- Maintains confidentiality and follows university, sponsor, andprogram requirements when handling student, financial, program, andinstitutional information.
What You Should Know
This part-time role will work 20 hours per week and follow a hybridwork schedule with 3 days on-site and 2 days remote.

What We Require
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent in any field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of student-centered experience suchas advising, tutoring, or work study supervision at a 2-year or 4-year higher education institution. A minimum of one (1) year ofadministrative experience with duties in budgeting, record keeping,and event planning.
What You Will Need
- Knowledge of TRiO legislation and regulations; or knowledge ofColorado Department of Education (CDE) and Colorado Commission onHigher Education (CCHE) policies and standards; or immediatecapacity to learn.
- Practical experience working with TRiO-eligible students and/orlife experience as a TRiO- eligible student. Skills in datamanagement and social media marketing.
- Professional knowledge of standard processes inpost-baccalaureate or "alt-ac" preparation for specialpopulations.
- Experience in facilitating multi-modality workshops andservices for on-campus and on-line participants.
- Abilities in creating and sustaining networks, affiliations,and partnerships with campus units, student groups, and communitypartners
