Job Summary
The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) at theUniversity of Colorado, Boulder is seeking applications for a Coordinator for Student Engagement! This role isresponsible for designing, implementing, and assessingstudent-centered programs that help create a sense of belonging,connection, community, and inclusive campus experience.
This position leads the development and execution of a wide rangeof events, particularly late-night and weekend programming,including both small-scale initiatives and large, complex campusevents. Signature programming includes high-impact engagementopportunities during key times of the academic year such asHalloween, St. Patrick’s Day, and Finals, when student connectionand support are especially critical.
This role manages core programming areas within CSI, advises andsupports student boards, and supervises student employees.Additionally, this position collaborates across campus with staff,faculty, and student leaders, and is expected to work a flexibleschedule including evenings, late nights, and weekends.

The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) serves as a central hubfor student engagement, leadership development, and communitybuilding. As a student-fee funded Cost Center of the CU StudentGovernment within the Division of Student Life, CSI supports morethan 500 recognized student organizations and creates opportunitiesfor students to connect, lead, and grow throughout their collegeexperience. The Center for Student Involvement is committed tocreating inclusive and accessible pathways for involvement whileintentionally designing experiences that strengthen belonging,engagement, and student development. Through campus events,leadership programs, and collaborative partnerships, CSI helpsshape transformative co-curricular experiences that extend learningbeyond the classroom.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Student Engagement & Programming:
- Lead the vision, development, and execution of assigned studentengagement initiatives, with a focus on large scale and recurringevents.
- Plan and implement events ranging from small-scale programs tolarge and complex campus-wide experiences.
- Manage all aspects of event execution, including budgeting,logistics, contract negotiation, and assessment.
- Design and evaluate student learning outcomes; use data andfeedback to continuously improve programs.
- Collaborate with campus partners to expand the reach, impact,and inclusivity of programming efforts.
- Supervise Program Council in collaboration with the SeniorCoordinator for Student Engagement, including staff supervision,event execution, and contract processes.
- Serve as primary advisor to the Distinguished Speakers StudentBoard.
- Provide guidance on event planning, logistics, leadershipdevelopment, and student board transitions.
- Assist student boards with budgeting, funding requests, andoperational planning.
Human Resource Management:
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student employeesand volunteer leaders.
- Set clear expectations, goals, and performance standardsaligned with departmental priorities for student staff.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and universityhiring policies and procedures.
Financial Oversight:
- Manage and monitor an annual programming budget ofapproximately $300,000+ in funds for student events andprograms.
- Maintain accurate financial records and oversee expenditurewith integrity and accountability.
- Contribute to annual budget planning within a studentgovernment-funded cost center.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, university, anddepartmental applicable fiscal policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned:
- Facilitate presentations, training, and additional programmingas needed.
- Provide support for departmental initiatives, events, andcommittees.
What You Should Know
- The CSI Office operates Monday - Friday, from 8:00am -5:00pm.
- This position is anticipated to regularly work late night andweekend hours to support departmental needs.

The annual salary for this position is $55,000.

What We Require
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- At least one (1) year of experience related to studentengagement, programming, or similar areas.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience maysubstitute.

Build strong relationships with student leaders whilepromoting their growth, decision-making, and leadershipdevelopment.
- Assessment, Evaluation & Research: Ability todesign and implement assessment strategies with the opportunity tofurther develop skills in evaluating programs and using data toinform decision-making. Apply assessment practices to enhancestudent learning, improve program effectiveness, and contribute toa culture of continuous improvement.
- Communication: Demonstrated ability, or capacity todevelop clear, professional, and inclusive communication skillsacross multiple formats (e.g., one-on-one advising, groupfacilitation, presentations, and written communication).Effectively conveys information, actively listens, and adaptsmessaging to engage diverse audiences, build relationships, andsupport student success.
- Law, Policy & Governance: Working knowledge of, or ability to learn, relevant institutional policies, compliancerequirements, and governance structures. Apply this understandingto ensure programs and practices align with university, state, andfederal guidelines while supporting ethical decision-making.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability, or capacity todevelop the skills to take imitative, collaborate effectively, andlead projects and initiatives. Build leadership capacity by workingwith diverse collaborators, including students, colleagues, andcampus partners, to plan, implement, and improve programs thatrespond to campus needs.
- Organizational & Human Resources: Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and resources effectively,with opportunities to strengthen skills in supervision, budgeting,and operational planning. Supports the recruitment, training, anddevelopment of student staff while contributing to a positive teamenvironment.
- Professional Ethics & Integrity: Demonstratedunderstanding, or capacity to develop ethical decision-making andprofessional judgment in alignment with institutional policies andstandards, including required obligations (e.g., OIEC, Clery, etc).Exercises appropriate discretion while recognizing the limits ofconfidentiality, models integrity and accountability, and navigatescomplex situations with sound judgment, fairness, and respectforall individuals.
- Technology: Proficiency with, or ability to learn,digital tools and platforms that support program planning,communication, and assessment. Leverage technology to enhancestudent engagement, streamline processes, and build digitalknowledge.

What We Would Like You to Have
- Master's degree in the social sciences, higher education, orcollege student personnel.
- 1-2 years of experience planning events in a higher educationsetting, including late-night or large-scale programs.
- Experience advising student organizations or studentboards.
- Knowledge of program assessment and student learningoutcomes.
- Familiarity with student development theory.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across diverseidentities, cultures, and communities.
- Supervisory experience.
