Job summary

Harvard Medical School is seeking a Program Manager to provide planning, implementation, and decision‑making support for the annual New England Science Symposium (NESS) and Community Engagement initiatives. The role sits in the Office for Culture and Community Engagement (OCCE) at HMS.

You will work with senior management, chairs, and faculty across Harvard units to develop curriculum, manage logistics, and coordinate recruitment and communications, ensuring successful programs and

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in program management.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and program implementation.
• Commitment to STEM and to the OCCE mission.
• Proven ability to manage large cross‑functional projects with many stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with educational programs and event management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior leaders and faculty to design and implement symposium curriculum, agenda, and speakers.
• Manage planning committee meetings and document decisions.
• Analyze evaluation results to inform mentoring strategy and program development.
• Develop recruitment strategies to involve faculty, scientists, and students in program activities.
• Draft and edit correspondence, reports, and program literature; handle marketing/publicity.
• Coordinate logistics for events, including contracts, catering, AV, travel, and materials.
