Job summary

YMCA Center is seeking an Out-of-School Time Program Lead at Glendale Sports Center in Glendale, CO. This part-time role supports the OST program under the Site Director, focusing on safety, engagement and YMCA core values.

You will guide activities, supervise staff, and help ensure a welcoming environment for youth after school, with hours Tue, Thu, Fri 2:30pm–6:00pm and Wed 1:30pm–6:00pm, plus occasional evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 months (460 hours) experience working with children under 13 years old; preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, planning, and implementing daily activities per YMCA policy and licensing.
  • Manage safety and well-being of all children.
  • Incorporate YMCA character development into daily programming.
  • Observe behavior and engagement for groups of up to 15 youth.
  • Maintain program areas and supplies; assist with trainings and meetings.

As an Out-of-School Time Program Lead, you’ll guide a team in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where youth can learn, build friendships, and grow in confidence. From leading activities and supporting staff to helping programs run smoothly, you’ll play a key role in bringing the YMCA’s values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to life each day.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Lead, working as part of the YMCA Center team, will help deliver world-class customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. Under the direction of the Site Director, the Program Lead is responsible for supporting the delivery of the OST program which includes behavior management and participant safety. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist in developing, planning, and implementing daily activities, in-service days, in accordance with YMCA philosophy and state licensing requirements
  • Implement risk management to provide safety and well-being of all children
  • Integrate YMCA character development program into daily programming
  • Assist Supervisor and help to observe behavior, activities, and engagement for groups of up to 15 youth.
  • Proactively clean and/or repair program areas; maintain supplies and equipment
  • Attend all training courses, staff meetings and in-services without exception
  • Follow dress code; require staff to adhere with staff shirts, name badge, closed-toes shoes
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays in accordance with location volume and events
  • Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA Annual Support Campaign, and general procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, facility access procedures, membership policies, and emergency plans
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle, feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear

  • Be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities are required including accurate sight up close, distant, peripheral and focus
  • Occasional exposure to wet conditions, and outdoor weather including UV sun rays
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
