Job summary

YMCA of Metro Denver is seeking a Part-Time Program Lead for RMSEL Elementary in Denver, CO. The role supports OST programming, emphasizes safety and behavior management, and reflects YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Hours are afternoons Monday through Friday, 2:30pm–6:00pm. Applicants must be at least 18 with a HS diploma, 460 hours of youth work, CPR/First Aid within 30 days, and a willingness to work varied shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 months (460 hours) experience with children under 13 required; youth-centered environment preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, planning, and implementing daily activities.
• Implement risk management for safety of all children.
• Integrate YMCA character development into daily programming.
• Observe behavior and engagement for groups up to 15 youths.
• Maintain supplies and cleanliness of program areas.
• Attend all trainings, staff meetings and in-services.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Lead, working as part of the YMCA Center team, will help deliver world-class customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. Under the direction of the Site Director, the Program Lead is responsible for supporting the delivery of the OST program which includes behavior management and participant safety. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist in developing, planning, and implementing daily activities, in-service days, in accordance with YMCA philosophy and state licensing requirements
• Implement risk management to provide safety and well-being of all children
• Integrate YMCA character development program into daily programming
• Assist Supervisor and help to observe behavior, activities, and engagement for groups of up to 15 youth.
• Proactively clean and/or repair program areas; maintain supplies and equipment
• Attend all training courses, staff meetings and in-services without exception
• Follow dress code; require staff to adhere with staff shirts, name badge, closed-toes shoes
• Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays in accordance with location volume and events
• Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA Annual Support Campaign, and general procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, facility access procedures, membership policies, and emergency plans

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle, feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear

• Be able to lift 40 pounds
• Specific vision abilities are required including accurate sight up close, distant, peripheral and focus
• Occasional exposure to wet conditions, and outdoor weather including UV sun rays
• Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
