Job summary

The State of Rhode Island Department of Human Services seeks a Supervising Eligibility Technician to plan, supervise and review staff performing eligibility determinations for various assistance programs. You will conduct interviews, gather information, and ensure accurate determinations for applicants and recipients.

With responsibilities across multiple DHS programs, you will lead staff, reference policy, and ensure compliance with federal and state rules.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal/state law and regulations on eligibility for assistance payments.
• Ability to conduct thorough information gathering interviews.
• Working knowledge of assistance programs and related reporting.
• Ability to supervise technical and clerical staff.
• Ability to complete eligibility forms and reports accurately.

Responsibilities

• Plan, assign, supervise, and review staff performing initial/continuing eligibility determinations.
• Assist applicants/recipients with applications and supporting evidence.
• Provide program eligibility information to the public.
• Conduct in-person interviews, in office or field.
• Prepare data reports and participate in quality control activities.
