The general salary range for this position is $70,000 – 95,000. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.
Humane World for Animals, a global leader in animal advocacy and protection, is seeking a Program Director, Mobile Marketing for the Digital Marketing department. In this position you will work with the Director, Mobile Marketing to identify and execute marketing, brand awareness, advocacy and fundraising goals to maximize the effectiveness of the organization’s global mobile marketing efforts. You will also develop the direction for the organization’s global mobile marketing, including planning and implementing new strategies and platforms, alongside the Director, Mobile Marketing. You will manage the day-to-day SMS calendar, working to maximize and improve results for advocacy, fundraising, donor retention, engagement, brand awareness and other campaign-specific goals, with limited supervision. You will also provide guidance to other members of the Mobile Marketing team.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the Director, Mobile Marketing on executing the mobile marketing strategy to meet team goals and improve the organization’s mobile marketing metrics. This includes day-to-day management of Humane World for Animals SMS marketing, brand awareness, advocacy and fundraising campaigns (campaign strategy planning, SMS copy writing, SMS broadcast setup, design asset requests, internal copy review and other platform and campaign-specific duties);
- Collaborates with Digital Marketing and other teams across the organization on strategy, copywriting, design and user experience for our SMS and multi-channel marketing campaigns, while also responding to SMS-specific requests across the organization;
- Runs the state SMS advocacy and events program, working closely with State Affairs and Campaigns staff to plan messaging, timing, tactics and implementation of broadcast, text-to-call, web alert and event SMS sends;
- Stays abreast of the latest trends in mobile marketing, SMS messaging and nonprofit technology. Research and follow-up on opportunities, both for U.S. and international audiences. Work with affiliates and country offices on launching and maintaining new mobile marketing efforts;
- Records and analyzes SMS campaign performance based on Mobile Commons and Engaging Networks reports. Work with the Director, Mobile Marketing to make strategy decisions based on reporting;
- Maintains an up-to-date understanding of SMS compliance, technology and the different types of mobile marketing and messaging. Act as a technical lead for our mobile marketing platform, working with Mobile Commons and/or other mobile marketing vendors to troubleshoot issues and push for new features;
- Provides staff with guidance on how to use the organization’s mobile marketing platforms for SMS broadcasts, QR codes, mConnect patch-through calling and other platform-specific tools.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or another related field preferred, or equivalent work experience required;
- A minimum of five years of experience in a nonprofit digital marketing or fundraising department;
- Minimum of three years of experience in writing advocacy and/or fundraising copy;
- Experience in broadcast SMS marketing required;
- Experience in Engaging Networks preferred;
- Experience in Mobile Commons preferred;
- Ability to lead and guide staff to meet department and organizational goals. Strong knowledge of staff management practices. Flexible, willing to learn, and anticipates the needs of others. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive;
- Effective verbal and written communication, including strong advocacy and fundraising copywriting skills;
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills with an ability to handle multiple competing priorities;
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to constant improvement, both personally and in the organization’s mobile marketing efforts;
- Effective at solving difficult, and sometimes complex, problems;
- Ability to influence others when needed using data-backed expertise;
- Extensive knowledge of broadcast and peer-to-peer SMS/MMS messaging using an Android or iOS device;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word;
- Commitment to constant testing and data-based decision making;
- Expertise in SMS/Mobile Messaging compliance laws and carrier best practices;
- Works independently with limited supervision.
